Hello fellow classmates! I was Janet "Jan" James in high school, and arrived at YVHS in my sophomore year. It was somewhat of a culture shock since I was coming from New Orleans, complete with southern accent and the firm belief everyone from California was a "surfer". You might remember I won "biggest flirt" at the senior banquet , and loved writing for the Smoke Signal.

I was lucky enough to move in across the street from Sally "Sam" Morrison as I entered YVHS. We became immediate best friends and we were always together during high school. Amazingly, over 50 years later, we remain best friends, both of us living in Walnut Creek, and working together on the YVHS 69 reunion committee.

I went to college at Chico State for 2 years, but graduated in Mississippi with a business degree. For many years I worked in the family's auto leasing company. About 15 years ago I became a licensed mortgage broker and continue on in this profession today (nope, not retired!).

I live and work in Walnut Creek, have 4 gorgeous granddaughters and a grandson due in May. I feel very lucky to have both of my parents alive (now in their 90s) and living nearby.
